ABOUT THE PROJECT

Established on 5 March 2002, the Rotary Vocational & Community Centre, Parwanoo is a long-term community development initiative dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for youth, women, children, workers and families. Located at Sector 5, Parwanoo, the Centre brings together a wide range of facilities and programmes focused on sports and fitness, education, vocational training, women's empowerment, entrepreneurship and healthcare. For more than two decades, the Centre has served the local community by providing accessible facilities, practical training and opportunities for personal, professional and economic development. Its programmes are designed to promote self-reliance, employability, healthy lifestyles, entrepreneurship and social well-being, reflecting Rotary's enduring commitment to Service Above Self.

SPORTS & FITNESS

Indoor Badminton

The Centre houses an approximately 3,000 sq. ft. indoor badminton hall equipped with an international-standard YONEX sports mat. The facility caters to approximately 45–50 young players, providing them with a quality environment to practise, develop their sporting abilities and maintain an active lifestyle. The hall is also utilized for community activities and public welfare programmes, including annual blood donation camps and other social initiatives.

Table Tennis

The Centre also provides facilities for table tennis, giving children and young people an opportunity to participate in indoor sports and recreational activities. The facility promotes physical activity while helping develop concentration, coordination, discipline and sporting spirit.

Gymnasium

The Centre operates a gymnasium equipped with six exercise stations. It is regularly used by approximately 35–40 young workers from the industrial community of Parwanoo, providing accessible facilities for exercise, fitness and recreation.

EDUCATION & DIGITAL SKILLS

Computer Education Centre

The Computer Education Centre provides computer education and digital skills training to both children and adults. pproximately 30–40 children from local primary and middle schools receive free basic computer training, helping them develop essential digital skills for education and future opportunities. Adults are provided training in advanced computer applications and accounting at subsidized rates, supporting improved employability and professional development.

WOMEN'S VOCATIONAL TRAINING

Tailoring Training Centre

The Tailoring Training Centre provides vocational training to girls and women, helping them acquire practical skills for employment and self-employment. The programme is conducted in technical collaboration with Singer India Ltd. Approximately 40 trainees complete the programme every year, with successful participants receiving diploma certificates from Singer India Ltd.

Knitting Training Centre

The Centre provides specialized knitting training to girls and women using Japanese hand-operated knitting machines. The programme encourages participants to establish their own cottage industries and home-based enterprises. Where required, the Centre facilitates microloan support to help trained participants establish their own small businesses. This initiative has contributed to the establishment of nearly 40 cottage industries in and around Parwanoo, creating sustainable opportunities for income generation and self-employment.

Beautician Training Centre

The Centre offers a six-month vocational training programme in beauty and personal care for girls and women. The training prepares participants for employment in beauty parlours or for establishing their own beauty and personal-care practices. The programme provides an important pathway towards employment, entrepreneurship and financial independence.

LIVELIHOOD & ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Centre's vocational programmes extend beyond classroom training by encouraging participants to convert their acquired skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The establishment of nearly 40 cottage industries in and around Parwanoo demonstrates the Centre's focus on transforming vocational skills into practical economic opportunities.

COMMUNITY HEALTH SERVICES

Physiotherapy Clinic

The Centre has expanded its community services through a Physiotherapy Clinic equipped with modern physiotherapy equipment. The clinic is managed by a post-graduate physiotherapy professional and provides accessible physiotherapy services to members of the community. Since its establishment, the clinic has successfully treated nearly 6,000 patients, making healthcare and rehabilitation an important component of the Centre's community service activities.
